JOB SYNOPSIS

The MA Community Music offers a comprehensive grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to function as a successful community musician in a range of contexts. The course is aimed at musicians who want to extend or develop the abilities needed to facilitate the expressive work of others and work effectively with a wide range of people in diverse settings. Students attain practical perspectives and hands-on experiences in the emerging field of Community Music in conjunction with developing the skills required to realise projects from the inception to their final execution. The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance is a global centre of academic and performance excellence based at the University of Limerick. Founded in 1994 by composer, musician, and educator, Mícheal O Súilleabháin, it has grown to encompass five undergraduate degrees, thirteen taught Masters, and a vibrant doctoral programme in a state-of-the-art building including two theatres, recording studios, individual practice rooms and dance studios. It has a strong international presence with over 50 countries represented by its student body and alumni. Its faculty includes renowned professional performers and academics, working within a vibrant surround of artists-in-residence and community partners. JOB SYNOPSIS

The School of Engineering is seeking candidates for the role of Assistant Professor in Industrial Operations and Engineering Management Science. The School has close links with both national and international manufacturing industry and is committed to conducting relevant impactful research to provide solutions for industry and societal needs. Ideal candidates for this post will have experience in industrial operations and engineering management, with expertise in discrete event simulation, agent-based modelling and optimisation with applications to supply chain and manufacturing systems. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research programme supported by extramural funding and to supervise postgraduate research students. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well as contribute to research centres/groups such as the Bernal Institute at UL. Role Profile

Reporting to the Deputy President, the Executive Dean will develop and deliver an ambitious vision for the Institute of Education for the next five years, which will in turn influence the future direction of education both in Ireland and across Europe. The postholder will provide strategic and operational leadership in all areas of activity across the Institute including teaching and learning, research, operations, policy engagement and institutional collaborations.

In addition, the postholder will serve as a key member of the University Executive, contributing to university-wide strategic planning and decision-making. The Executive Dean role will operate as a key member of the University leadership team with responsibility for understanding all key aspects of University strategic and operational priorities and developing and implementing university strategy.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional academic leader with the insight and experience to influence national education discourse and to navigate complex, evolving educational landscapes. They will also need to be able to navigate the operational requirements of the Faculty in a complex higher education environment which operates within a limited Irish Higher Education sector funding envelope.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Above the Bar) Salary Scale: €78,401 - €101,534 (Scale B) / €74,592 - €96,455 (Scale A).

University College Cork wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in Business Information Systems. Double accredited by AMBA and AACSB, a PRME Champion and holding an Athena Swan Award, Cork University Business School is one of Ireland’s largest business schools. Our school seeks to shape leaders for a sustainable future and is committed to providing a dynamic, supportive and inclusive learning, teaching, research and working environment, which recognises the diverse backgrounds and interests of both students and staff. 

 

The Lecturer in Business Information Systems will demonstrate a track record of relevant research and teaching experience. Candidates should identify their research outputs to date and demonstrate their ongoing potential to publish in leading international journals (3 and 4 star ranked journals by the Chartered Association of Business Schools are preferred), and whose research will be aligned with the United Nations SDGs. Candidates must also demonstrate their experience and/or potential in delivering high quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates with teaching and research experience in any area of Information Systems are encouraged to apply. Tangible experience in the teaching of programming languages, eg: Python, is an advantage. Candidates should set out how their research may contribute to one or more of the UCC Futures and/or the school’s proposed new strategic research centre on the Future of Work and Economies.
