University College Cork invites applications for the post of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) with additional responsibility for Infection Prevention and Control at Cork University Dental School and Hospital. The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) has a key role in the coordination and management of clinical activities and resources within the Dental School and Hospital. The post holder will support the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care while providing professional and clinical leadership to the Nursing Team.

 

The CNM2 reports to the Director of Nursing and is accountable for nursing service delivery, workforce management, and the promotion of best practice in infection prevention and control.

Appointment may be made on the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Salary Scale:  €62,078 - €78,443 (LSI) (pro rata).

Lecturer (Above the Bar) in Gerontology

UCC wishes to appoint to the role of Lecturer above the Bar, Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation. Reporting to the Programme Director for the MSc in Dementia and MSc in Older Person Rehabilitation, the role involves interactions with potential applicants for these two interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes, review and acceptance of programme and CPD applicants, teaching, examining, module coordination, and research project supervision for these programmes. Conducting and supervising research, including applying for research grants, particularly in the areas of ageing, rehabilitation, dementia, delirium and Parkinson’s disease, is an integral part of the post.

This position is funded by Department of Business, Enterprise, and Innovation through the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF). The post is available up to 24 months in duration from the earliest suitable start date.

The post will be based within the Bio-Electromechanics research programme of the  Translational Medical Device Lab (TMDLab), an award-winning, multidisciplinary group of over 25 researchers co-located across the HRB Translational Research Facility at Galway University Hospital and the Alice Perry Engineering Building. The lab has a strong track record in first-in-human studies, patented technologies, and industry collaboration. The Bio-Electromechanics programme is led by Co-Director  Dr Eoghan Dunne, whose research direction focuses on how mechanical forces fundamentally alter the electrical behaviour of biological tissue, with the goal of redefining how electromagnetic energy is measured and applied in clinical settings. His work combines rigorous biophysical modelling with hands-on medical device development, contributing to technologies in cardiac ablation, cancer treatment, and minimally invasive interventions. Dr Dunne has secured over €5 million in competitive funding and published in leading journals including IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering. Researchers joining this environment will work on high-impact problems within a clinically connected ecosystem, with strong mentorship, access to translational infrastructure, and clear pathways toward both academic and commercial impact.

**Salary: **Research Fellow salary scale €66,548 – €86,874 annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.

The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale (subject to the project’s funding limitations), where evidence of prior years’ equivalent experience is accepted in determining placement on the scale above point 1, subject to the maximum of the scale.

JOB SYNOPSIS

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support for undergraduate teaching laboratories in the areas of engineering mechanics (statics, dynamics, strength of materials, friction and related fields), the Design, Build and Fly module, and the carbon-fibre composites manufacturing facility. The role requires strong practical skills in mechanical engineering laboratory equipment, including but not limited to flywheel-based moment of inertia apparatus, PASCO cart impact/collision systems, co-planar forces experiment, moments of inertia experiments, deflection of beams experiments, friction on inclined planes experiments and vibration experiments. The post holder will also support the Design, Build and Fly module (based on the AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition) where students design, build and flight-test RC model aircraft. Hands on skills and dexterity are very important while working with fragile balsa materials – related transferable skills would be beneficial. This module involves (but is not limited to) the operation of a CNC LASER cutting machine and a CNC Five-Axis Hot Wire Foam Cutter. The successful candidate will also contribute to the operation and development of the carbon-fibre manufacturing facility (autoclave curing, hand lay-up, vacuum infusion, ultrasonic non-destructive testing, CNC ply cutter, ultrasonic welding, and 9-axis KUKA robot automated tape placement). The post holder will support undergraduate, final-year, master’s, PhD students, researchers, and academics through laboratory setup, maintenance, technical guidance, and facility management.

The Purpose of the Role 

The School of Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin is seeking a candidate for the above post. The appointment will be tenable from January 2027. This is a teaching and research position; the successful candidate will be required to contribute at all levels of teaching and supervision undertaken by the School and will be expected to conduct a vigorous research programme.

 

Context 

The School of Mathematics is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in High-performance Computing. The successful candidate will have demonstrated exceptional research promise in Computational Mathematics/Numerical Analysis with experience in High-performance Computing applications. With the opening of this position, we seek to expand our existing research strengths in this direction. The School of Mathematics, which at Trinity includes Theoretical Physics, boasts research groups in Applied and Numerical Linear Algebra (ANLA) as well as a computationally focused high-energy physics group working in Lattice QCD. The School seeks to augment its existing strengths in both Mathematics and Theoretical Physics by further building computational and high-performance computing expertise while complementing the work of our Lattice and ANLA groups. The post combines research and teaching; the appointee will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education and supervision, including to students on the School's taught MSc degree in High Performance Computing, with particular interests in candidates who are able to offer/develop lectures complementary to those in our existing M.Sc. in HPC. 

Candidates working in any area within Computational Mathematics/Numerical Analysis will be considered, with preference for those with experience in High-Performance Computing applications. In particular, candidates working in areas concerning large-scale computations in optimisation and stochastic partial-differential equations are encouraged to apply.
